In 1987, we started as The Volcano Coffee company, a small roastery offering 100% Kona coffee, and two decades later Aloha Farms Grow was started as a coffee grower, processor / miller and broker for the Co-op that we formed with several coffee farms. Some of our Co-op farms were established in the 1950s, and one as far back as 1889. Aloha Farms Grow mostly grows Kona coffee located on the southern portion of the Big Island of Hawaii, where our coffee farms thrive under the tropical terrain of the active Mauna Loa volcano. We established Aloha Farms Hawaii to manufacture and introduce our commercially branded products including coffee, macadamia nuts, sea salts and honey. This allowed us a way to maintain our sustainable, conservation-forward farming practices, wherein traceability and quality are our driving principles that ensure consistent taste profiles and product integrity. As we look into the future, Aloha Farms Café will allow us to share this magnificent environment that is the Hawaiian Islands and offer artisanal island grown coffees and products from Islands around the world, including award-winning Kona, Ka’u, Jamaican and Indonesian coffees.Aloha Farms Café provides products for people that are seeking high quality premium products and that are organically and naturally grown. While you’re here, visit our Nursery and take a look at our Mill!

Matt J. Canaday, Founder Hi! Hey! Hola! Aloha!

My name is Matthew J. Canaday, but most people call me Matteo. Born in Southern California, I was raised in Barcelona, Spain, and eventually moved to the Tulalip Indian Reservation just north of Seattle, Washington, where I spent the majority of my adult life enjoying reservation life and all the nature that it had to offer.

How did I get into the coffee business? Good question.

On a nice sunny day in Lahaina Maui, while at Maui Grown Coffee Co., I was having a delightful latte with my brother-in-law when he suggested I take my passion for coffee, farming and Hawaii to an entrepreneurial level. And that’s how my journey as a farmer-entrepreneur began.

I love coffee. I love growing it. I love roasting it. I love sharing it with others. I love being a farmer here on the Big Island of Hawaii. And honestly, I’ve never met an island I didn’t like.

Whenever you purchase an Aloha Farms Café product, you support sustainable efforts in coffee cultivation and macadamia nut forestry, and honeybee stewardship in Hawaii and other island nations. Our eco-friendly methods are directly sowing the seeds for a sustainable future in products that are pure, natural and organic.

My goal with Aloha Farms Café is to provide the best island nation coffees to coffee lovers around the world. Why? Because coffee – and all of the other completely natural products we offer – are the best that our planet has. And knowing that I am consuming the world’s purest, healthiest foods makes me feel like I’m doing something good for myself and the planet.

My favorite quotes I like to live by include:

1. Do onto others as you would like to be done to yourself (Matthew 6:12)
2. You don’t know your ass from a hole in the ground
3. Lastly, I like the 7 “P”s: Prior, Proper, Planning, Prevents, Piss, Pore, Performance

Alright. Time to suit up and get brewing.

Mahalo Nui Loa,

Matteo
